Chairman's Corner

Trey Hughey
East Texas Section Chairperson
SPE

Welcome to a new SPE Year, I hope you all have had a wonderful summer and are gearing up for some cooler weather in the coming months. Fall in East Texas is always a welcomed season. I want to first mention once again, that we are going to have to wait a couple of months to hear our annual presentation from the ever-loyal and super engaging Richard Spears of Spears and Associates out of Tulsa. He will be our November Speaker this year, due to his travels abroad. As we all are aware, this is an interesting time in our industry with prices much lower than most anticipated. So we will have to wait to hear what Richard has to say about the future of our Industry.

The East Texas Section began in April of 1940, so we will be celebrating our 80th year as a Section…I am really proud of what all we have accomplished over the years, and look forward to seeing the many Scholarship Recipients that we helped throughout the years, lead us into the next phase of our Industry. Thank you all for your many contributions along the way.

To kick us off this year, we will have Tom Emelander; US GeoZone Ops Manager at Weatherford, to present to us on his topic of Open Hole Sidetracking Operations. Please remind your friends and colleagues in the industry about this upcoming meeting and let's try to make it as big of a turn out as ever to kick of the new SPE year.

I Look forward to seeing everybody at the Potpourri House at 11:30 on Tuesday.
