High School Seniors & Counselors


The East Texas Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering at an accredited four year university.  Freshmen receive $500 per semester, upper classmen receive $1,000 per semester for a total of $7,000 given over 4 years.  To remain eligible a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and 30 hours of course work per year.

Students must be attending high school in one of the following counties covered by our chapter to be considered eligible: Anderson, Angelina, Bosque, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Delta, Ellis, Falls, Fannin, Franklin, Freestone, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Hopkins, Houston, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Panola, Rains, Red River, Robertson, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, Wood.
